About

Deborah Grant and Srdjan Tanjga got married in May of 2009 and have created the Adventure Scholarship as a way to share their joy with the world and give back to the places where they came from.

Deborah was born and raised in Brandon, the second largest city in Manitoba, Canada. She studied at Queen’s University and Stanford Business School. She has lived and worked in Hong Kong, New York, San Francisco, and London.

Srdjan was born and raised in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. He studied at Harvard College and Harvard Business School. He has lived and worked in New York and London.

Each summer the Scholarship enables two high school students to attend an intensive foreign language course in the country where that language is spoken. The Scholarship is awarded to one high school student from Belgrade, Serbia (Srdjan’s hometown), and one high school student from Brandon, Manitoba, Canada (Deborah’s hometown).

The students from Belgrade are expected to enroll in summer school of English in the United States or Canada.

The students from Brandon are expected to enroll into a foreign language course, preferably in Asia (where Deborah studied Mandarin Chinese).

Following the award, we work with the students to choose a program and enroll the students in that program. We help with all aspects of planning, preparation, and travel. The Scholarship covers all expenses – travel, room and board, tuition, and reasonable out- of- pocket expenses
